Karbonn announces four cheap Android smartphones

The new Karbonn A90, Karbonn A35, Karbonn A16, Karbonn A35 are priced under Rs 7,500.

Keeping this Diwali season in mind, Karbonn has announced four smartphones including Karbonn A35 and Karbonn A90 2G smartphones, and 3G enabled Karbonn A99 and Karbonn A16.

The Karbonn A16 comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, 1.3GHz dual core processor, 4 inch touchscreen with WVGA resolution, 1350 mAh battery 5 megapixel rear camera, and 32 GB extended memory. The Karbonn A16 is also enabled with Hungama My Play app which offers 1 month unlimited access to Hungama content including music and videos.

Other important features of Karbonn A16 include Dual SIM, Bluetooth/A2DP, 3G, WiFi, Outlook E-mails, G-Sensor, Google Play Store, Karbonn Live, Whatsapp, Office Suite and much more. The Karbonn A16 is priced at Rs 6,490.

Karbonn A99 features the latest Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system, 1.3 GHz dual-core processor and 4 inch IPS display. The Karbonn A99 also has a 1400 mAh battery, 5 megapixel rear camera, Dual SIM, 512MB RAM, 4 GB ROM, WiFi, GPS, and is priced at Rs 6,590.

Karbonn A35 has a 5 inch IPS-LCD touchscreen with qHD resolution. It is available in Black- Silver and White - Silver colours. It boasts of a 1 GHz dual core processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The Karbonn A35 has a decent 1800 mAh battery as well. The phone comes with a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash and a 2 megapixel front camera. Besides, the Karbonn A35 comes with dual SIM, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB ROM, WiFi, and is priced at Rs 7,490.

ZTE to launch 5.5 inch phablet in India in Nov

ZTE had launched six smartphones in India in July this year.

ZTE, the Chinese handset giant, will launch a huge 5.5 inch display bearing smartphone in the first week of November in India, according to a senior executive of the company. Another phablet with 5 inch display is also set to be launched.

"We will launch a 5.5 inch display bearing smartphone and a 5 inch smartphone in India in the first week of November in view of the upcoming Diwali season," said Amir Saxena, ZTE's director of marketing to The Mobile Indian in an exclusive meeting.

Both the devices are based on Android operating system and quad core processors; also, both are said to be priced "affordably".

However, no further information (including their names) about the devices were revealed. ZTE Grand Memo, which is not available in India and is the biggest smartphone in its stable, comes with a 5.7 inch display and not 5.5 inch as told by the ZTE official. However, ZTE has several 5 inch Android smartphones in its kitty and it could not be ascertained which one ZTE plans to launch in India.

As per ZTE China's webpage, it has a smartphone called Grand S Flex, which comes with a 5 inch screen. ZTE Grand S, which also comes with a 5 inch screen, also fits the bill to be launched in India; in fact earlier media reports also said that the ZTE Grand S will be launched in India this Diwali.

ZTE had been supplying CDMA phones to Indian operators. In July this year, though, it launched six handsets under its own brand name in a price bracket of Rs 5,000-Rs 15,000. To know more, click here.

LG Optimus F5 coming soon to India

The phone is compatible with TD-LTE 4G standards and has a 4.3 inch display.

LG Optimus F5, which was unveiled in February this year along with Optimus F7, has been listed on Saholic (an online retailer) as coming soon. The retailer though has not revealed its price.

The LG Optimus F5 has a 4.3 inch IPS-LCD touchscreen with qHD (960x540 pixels) resolution. It has a dual core Snapdragon MSM8960 processor with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz which is assisted by 1 GB RAM and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. It has 8 GB ROM and 32 GB expandable storage slot.

Moreover, the Optimus F5 has a 2150 mAh Li-Ion battery, 5 megapixels back camera, 1.3 megapixels front camera, WiFi, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0, micro USB 2.0, and GPS with A-GPS facility. It is to be noted that the Optimus F5 supports TD-LTE networks (which is available in India) but the listing does not speak anything about the same.
