Apple has sent out invites with a vague slogan which has been interpreted by many as an indication of the arrival of a new iPad and a new iPad Mini model.

Apple, which has recently launched its iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s, may launch a new iPad model on this October 22 itself.
This has been presumed as the California based handset major has sent out invites for a special event on the October 22 in San Francisco, USA. The Apple Event invite carries text - We still have a lot to cover; which has been now interpreted by analysts about the arrival of a new iPad model along with the Retina display bearing iPad Mini. Apple may also announce MacBook Pros, Mac Pro and new OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
Apple to launch new iPad on Oct 22
Apple has long been rumored of working on a new fifth generation iPad tablet that has taken design cues from the iPad Mini. Besides a Retina display, the new iPad is expected to be better than its predecessors in many other areas including processor, camera, and chassis. The new iPad is said to be akin to the iPad Mini in terms of physical aesthetics. Apple may also include the new Touch ID feature in the Home button in the new tablet along with the new Apple A7 SoC.
The new iPad Mini would also hopefully feature a Retina display with higher resolution than its predecessors. We hope that Apple uses a latest processor on this device than a year old chip. Obviously, both new iPad and iPad Mini tablets will come with iOS 7 running out of the box.
Interesting bit is that even Nokia has a special launch event for its devices on October 22 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Currently, gesture technologies depend on cameras and proximity sensors; the former depends on light while the later works in short distances

Norwegian start-up Elliptic Labs has developed an ultrasonic chip for mobile phones and tablets. According to a report of BBC, Elliptic Labs is also in talks with Asian handset manufacturers to get the chip embedded in the device.
New ultrasonic chip promises better gesture controls
The chip uses ultrasonic sound waves to trigger an action. For instance, when someone hovers his hand over the chip, the chip calculates the motion of the disturbance and the intended gesture and accordingly results in the related action.
Current gesture recognition systems rely on cameras, which are handicapped in low lights, or the proximity sensors that have a short range. But with the ultrasonic chip, both the shortcomings are addressed effectively as sound waves can travel longer distance and are unaffected by lightning conditions. Therefore users could move their hands over the displays from a distance to operate their devices.

Disable app updates that happen in the background on the iOS 7 software update.

Apple's new iOS 7 software update brought several features and one of them was background app updates. This feature automatically updates the downloaded apps on iOS 7 devices - iPhone, iPad, iPod touch (5th Generation) and iPad mini.
Though the automatic background updates are great they often tend to eat up data packages.

A hands-on video showing Android 4.4 KitKat build running on LG Google Nexus 5 was leaked online showing different features of both - hardware and software.

Google and LG are expected to launch the Nexus 5 smartphone with Android 4.4 KitKat (KeyLimePie) operating system on it. A French website (smartphones.sfr) has now posted a video showing off the final version of the Nexus 5.

The LG and Google's Nexus 5 smartphone with model LG-D820 will feature a 4.95-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution. It is powered by the quad-core 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 with 2 GB RAM. In the video, the build was still listed as Android 4.4 KeyLimePie update. There are no visual improvements visible so the build is obviously old.
